Postponed Games Due To Inclement Weather

The last two weeks have seen the Raynes Park Little League called off. The recent weather has led to frozen and waterlogged pitches (see pic below) with weeks (14.01.17 and 21.01.17) being affected. The league will try whenever possible to get the games played but the most important factor is the safety of the kids.

Each week the league committee inspect the park to make sure the pitches are in a safe and playable condition. Once again the league will be looking at the pitches this week to make sure the games can go ahead.

If you have any questions please get in touch with your child’s manager to see if the games are on or alternatively, you can contact a league official (details on the website).

Christmas Match

Festive fun between the managers and parents this Christmas

http://www.raynesparklittleleague.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/IMG_3780.jpg

Every year as the festive season enters overdrive – the Raynes Park Little League, as in time honored tradition, take part in a fundraising Christmas charity match. The Senior managers (who have been harshly treated over recent years) take on the Junior managers ‘mercenaries’ , the Bantam managers and a group of parents for the coveted Colin Higbee Trophy.

The league would like to invite all the Raynes Park Family along to help support us on this day (Saturday 19th 9.30am – Noon) with adults wishing to take part contributing with a minimum of 5 pounds. All the proceeds go back into the Raynes Park Little League coffers which in turn helps us to pay for new kits, equipment and goals etc.  Each team plays the other teams once on the senior pitches: The Juniors – who rather controversially – won last year at the expense of the Seniors, will be looking to regain their crown.

The league would like to wish everyone the very best of luck for the weekend and a very merry Christmas to everyone over this festive time of year!

A Christmas Raffle With Fun Prizes Will Take Place at 12.15.

Christmas Match This Saturday

The annual Christmas match takes place this Saturday with the Bantam managers taking on the Junior, Senior and Parents in a three game league tournament.

All league managers, assistants and parents will be donating five pounds to the league coffers as the Juniors look to retain the title they ‘luckily’ won in a penalty shoot-out against the Seniors. We’d like to invite all the Raynes Park Little League family to come along and support their managers, parents and league…

The First kick off is 9.30am

See you all there!!!!

RPLL Pay Their Respects As Ospreys Lift Cup

A Day Never To Forget

On the day the Raynes Park Little League paid their respects to Colin Higbee, the Ospreys ran out winners in the 2014 Junior One Day Cup.

A massive crowd paid there respects in the sun

The day started out with every bantam, junior and senior team converging on our pavilion where our chairman Peter Brown spoke to the crowd about Colin, his achievements at the park and just what a wonderful, humble and friendly human being he was. The crowd were respectful and pensive as Peter spoke before a loud and raucous minutes applause was had in his memory. As the sun shone down on everyone at the park it seemed a fitting tribute to Colin who had spent several years with the League. His two children were present for the occasion and were seen speaking to the Sabres team before there senior match which they were present for.

Ospreys – 2014  Junior One Day Cup Winners

On the same day, at a packed park, the junior teams took part in their yearly one day cup. What a day was had as lots of goals were scored and plenty of celebrations were seen. In the end there can only be two teams in the final (results to follow later this week) and this year saw the Ospreys defeat the Hurricanes in a hugely exciting finale which lived up to the final billing. As the Ospreys lifted the trophy aloft in the air, champagne was sprayed on the winners – and a few spectators too – as a very emotional and unforgettable RPLL day came to a close. A fitting tribute and finale to one of the best days seen by the league for years.

RPLL Loses A Dear Colleague

Colin Higbee – a true RPLL great

Last weekend, former Raynes Park Little League manager Colin Higbee, 45, passed away after suffering from a cardiac arrest. Colin, who managed the Sabres and Giants during his time at the league, had just taken part in the 16 mile Kingston Breakfast Run Course.

Those that new Colin expressed deep shock and sadness at his passing with current senior league secretary, Mick Browne adding, “he was a wonderful wonderful man – a true gent who when you played his teams always had nothing but nice things to say to you… he will be a big loss to us all…”

As a mark of respect, the Senior league games, Junior one day cup and Bantam matches will all observe a one minute silence in his honour.

Juniors Win Frank Adley Trophy

IMG_3780

The Pride of  The RPLL
In what was a fantastic day down at the Raynes Park Little League, the inaugural Frank Adley Trophy was played out with teams comprising of a Bantam, Junior, Senior and Parents side. Money was raised by those taking part – which goes back into the RPLL coffers – as all sides took to the task of winning the coveted trophy very seriously – well, almost everyone. After the round robin games were played – the Junior and Senior sides were tied at the top meaning a penalty shootout was the decider. As the goals reigned in it was the Juniors that took first prize thanks to a deciding spot kick by Leo Pallazzo and the trophy was lifted aloft by their manager Peter Brown amongst exhausted celebrations…
