Group 4 Results

 Raynes Park 5 v 0 New Malden

 Raynes Park 4 v 1 Addiscombe

Addiscombe 4 v 2 New Malden

With the Sun coming out on the day and with the park filled with supporters from all three teams, the matches promised to be closely fought and high on adrenaline. After two tight opening games it was Raynes Park who flexed their muscles and went ahead as half time approached. The second half proved even better for the boys in Claret as they stretched their leads and opened up a more comfortable advantage over their opponents.

With the boys safely through word got out that Carshalton will be our semi final opponents and an exciting match in prospect. Having played them in the last two seasons and come out victorious on both occasions Raynes Park hope to make it three on the bounce as they attempt to achieve the holy grail and win the elusive and much coveted Senior National Tournament.

Raynes Park Do Battle Once More

nat 1

After last seasons history makers, Raynes Park go into this years National tournament full of confidence. After making the final for the first time since 1988-89 last time out, the team think they can go one better this year and win the competition. It wont be easy though and our draw against New Malden and Addiscombe promises to be two very difficult games.

Order Of Play

10am: Raynes Park vs New Malden

11am: Raynes Park v Addiscombe

12noon: Addiscombe vs New Malden

New Malden, who always prove difficult opponents defeated Kingston last season and will be formidable opponents in our first game which kicks off at 10am. The team will have to be focused and playing at their very best to win. We also welcome back Addiscombe who were in our group stages last year. Well organised and very efficient, Addiscombe will be a hard second game for the boys after the New Malden battle.

The boys were fabulous on Saturday in their wins over the Raynes Park All-Star and will be ready lock horns with the finest teams in Little League come Saturday morning.

Senior Nationals History Makers

This years Raynes Park Little League National team became the first side since 1988-89 to make it through to the final of the Little League National tournament. After seeing off Addiscombe, Carshalton and Wallington in the group stages, Raynes Park drew the 2o11 winners Wimbledon Little League in the semi finals.

Semi Final:

Raynes Park 2 – 0 Wimbledon

Morden 7 – 1 Shirley

Final:

Raynes Park 0 – 3 Morden

Nationals win their Group Tournament

In what was a very polished and professional performance by Raynes Park, goals in each half, proved too strong for their Wimbledon counterparts as they ran out deserved 2-0 winners. With Morden defeating Shirley 7-1 in the other semi final it was always going to be a tough game in the final.

Having secured their place in the history books Raynes Park Nationals took on reigning champions Morden in the final. After a close first fifteen minutes with both sides having good chances to take the lead it was Morden who went ahead scoring two goals in three minutes to knock Raynes Park off their stride. In the second half Raynes Park went chasing a goal, with a good goal controversially disallowed , they were unable to breach Mordens’ net as they scored a third. Although disappointed in defeat, all the Raynes Park Nationals can be extremely proud of their performance with a massive Raynes Park crowd supporting them all the way, cheering each boy as they picked up their trophies. Many congratulations from everyone at the Raynes Park Little League.
